Cornish Horizon’s Raises Over £4,500 In 5 months for Cornwall’s Air Ambulance
Cornwall’s leading holiday letting company, Cornish Horizons has raised over £4,500 in the first 5 months of its new initiative for the county’s Air Ambulance.
Cornish Horizons, which has nearly 500 cottages in the county and offices in Padstow, St Ives, Fowey and Looe, is asking everyone who books a holiday through them this year to donate £2 toward its nominated charity, the Cornwall Air Ambulance. Since the beginning of November, the company has raised a massive £4,616 (as at end of April 2017).
General Manager of Cornish Horizons, Gemma Brown, said: “We can’t believe how quickly we’ve raised such a large sum of money. It just goes to show how important our guests feel the Air Ambulance is. You never know when you will need their services – and being such a large county, which in the height of summer becomes extremely busy, having the Air Ambulance is vital.”
“Our recent visit to the base near Newquay was mind-blowing. To see the helicopters and the amazing equipment they carry on board was also humbling and we are delighted our guests recognise the importance of this service,” Gemma added.
The Cornwall Air Ambulance has been saving lives across the county since 1987, flying more than 700 lifesaving missions each year. The helicopter can be dispatched within 3 minutes of a 999 call being made and on average they can be at the scene of an accident or incident anywhere in Cornwall within 12 minutes. They can treat patients on-scene or take them to the hospital that best suits their needs, whether in Cornwall or at specialist hospitals out of county such as Derriford’s Trauma Unit or the Bristol Children’s Hospital, reaching these specialist centres in minutes, rather than the hours it can take by road.
Steph Preston-Evans, Fundraising Officer at Cornwall Air Ambulance says ‘’we are very grateful to Cornish Horizons for their support, and are hugely impressed with the amount that has been raised so far. This is a big year for Cornwall Air Ambulance, as it marks the 30th anniversary of the first Cornwall Air Ambulance mission. In those 30 years, the crew has attended over 26,000 incidents, saving many lives. We are delighted that Cornish Horizons has chosen to support their local air ambulance in this very special year and we look forward to working with them further.’’
