Cornish Horizons Raises over £25,000 for Cornwall’s Air Ambulance
Holiday cottage company, Cornish Horizons, has raised over £25,000 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance since the partnership began in 2016.
Cornish Horizons, which has offices in Padstow, St Ives, Fowey, Porthleven and Looe, enable their customers during their website checkout to make a voluntary donation of £2 towards to the Cornwall Air Ambulance. The scheme this year alone has raised a massive £9,800, which pushes the total amount raised since launch to over £25,500.
Marketing Manager of Cornish Horizons, Harriet Wills, said: “We can’t believe how quickly we’ve raised such a large sum of money. It just goes to show how important our guests feel the Air Ambulance is. Cornwall is such a large county with so many visitors particularly over summer so having the Cornwall Air Ambulance is vital.”
“To see the helicopters, learn about the lifesaving equipment that’s on-board and meet the team really reminds us how much this support is needed. We’re delighted our guests recognise the importance of this service”.
The Cornwall Air Ambulance has been saving lives across the county since 1987, flying more than 700 lifesaving missions each year. The helicopter can be dispatched within 3 minutes of a 999 call being made and on average they can be at the scene of an accident or incident anywhere in Cornwall within 12 minutes. They can treat patients on-scene or take them to a hospital that best suits their needs, whether in Cornwall or at specialist hospitals out of county such as Derriford’s Trauma Unit or the Bristol Children’s Hospital. They reach these specialist centres in minutes, rather than the hours it can take by road.
Steph Bray, Corporate Fundraising Officer at Cornwall Air Ambulance, says “We are delighted to receive this incredible donation from Cornish Horizons. Their support over the previous three years has been staggering, and the £25,000 raised has gone a long way to helping the charity keep flying and saving lives.
Each year over 15% of the charity’s missions are for non-residents, and therefore it is fantastic to have the support of a tourism business, which recognises the importance of the Cornwall Air Ambulance in keeping everyone in the county safe. Thank you to the staff and customers of Cornish Horizons for their support.”
