Cornwall Council Seek 17 Ambitious People to Start Their Careers in The Public Sector
Cornwall Council has launched a hunt for 17 new employees to start their careers in Apprenticeship roles within the organisation.
Opportunities to work for one of Cornwall’s largest employers are available in a range of departments including Highways, Human Resources, Sports Partnership, Children’s Social Care and Digital Marketing, and will be delivered in partnership with Truro and Penwith College.
The Council’s Talent and Development Advisor Jamie Ashcroft said: “We are strong supporters of the National Apprenticeship Service’s #GetInGoFar campaign and we want to encourage more young people to take up Apprenticeships with us. As a Council, we want to develop our workforce for the future and we are looking for talented and ambitious people to join us”.
“Our Apprentices will be supported to gain qualifications, learn relevant skills and gain confidence whilst earning a wage. We plan to make Apprenticeships readily available and accessible as we see it as a fantastic method for developing and growing talent. We plan to help influence, build momentum and grab this new initiative and run with it!”
Successful candidates can expect to work in a variety of Business Administration and Marketing roles, with training programmes available at a range of levels, appropriate for those leaving education or adults looking to retrain and start a new career.
21-year-old mother of two Stephanie Ould, from St Austell decided to start her career in HR via an Apprenticeship and began work in the Council’s HR team in November 2016. “Starting my career as an Apprentice has been one of the best decisions I have ever made” said Stephanie; “it has provided me with an opportunity to get into work, and I am learning the skills and knowledge needed to progress in my career, all while earning a real wage!”
