County’s Motor Dealers turn out in Force for Cornwall Business Show

Both fleet and commercial vehicles will be on show to business community, some of Cornwall’s leading motor dealers are pulling together their best offers in anticipation of this year’s Cornwall Business Show.

The motor trade regularly uses the event to showcase both commercial vehicles and cars of interest as either fleet or executive vehicles. The show also frequently offers visitors a first glimpse of newly-launched models.

It is a great opportunity for anybody looking for a new business deal. The show will feature tempting offers from Lexus, Mercedes, VW, Nissan, Renault, Land Rover, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar and other marques.

This year’s event, from 9.30am to 4pm on Thursday, March 16 at the Royal Cornwall Showground, will provide an excellent opportunity for people working in businesses of all sizes to consider their motoring needs.

West End Motors will launch the all-new NV300 van at the show. The company also hopes to utilise this year’s event to give visitors an early sighting of the new Nissan Micra – an ideal choice for many businesses that do a significant amount of local mileage in Cornwall. The new Micra comes with a choice of one diesel and two petrol engines, and its smart new styling is expected to make it a big hit.

Dales Cornwall will be showcasing its commercial vehicles, particularly the Renault Kangoo and Trafic.

Marketing manager Bobby Vanderplank said: “After attending last year’s show as a visitor it became clear to me that we ought to be there as an exhibitor.

“We’re really looking forward to it. It’s a busy event where lots of business people gather, and we look forward to helping them with their commercial vehicle needs.”

New to the show this year is Roger Young, of Saltash. Roger originally began repairing Land Rovers and farm machinery on his father’s farm near Bolventor, but in 1984 was awarded the Land Rover Defender franchise. By 1992 the business had grown considerably, so he moved to new, larger premises at Saltash.

These days the business has expanded even further and holds the franchises for Jaguar and Isuzu, as well as Land Rover, and Nugent trailers. In addition, they also have a body shop and fabrication workshop, as well as their own hire fleet.

Business development manager Patrick Toohey said: “When people think of Roger Young they often first think Land Rover, but we offer a great deal in addition to that. The show will be a great opportunity for us to meet people and show them what we have to offer – including the all-new Discovery, which we’ll bring with us. The team is really looking forward to being there.”

The Vospers Truro team at the show will be headed up by new commercial sales manager Julian Stubbs, ably assisted by Simon Webb. Julian said: ”We’re returning to Cornwall Business Show partly because of past successes, but also because we love the chance to meet and interact with the local businesses and tradespeople it attracts.

“We often find that commercial vehicle customers are busy from day to day but will take time out to attend the show, whereas they don’t always have the time to make a special trip to the showroom.

“Ultimately we want to sell commercial vehicles. But more than that, we want to get to know our local community and those who need the products we sell – and advise them on the best ones to suit their needs. We’re a newly-energised team and I’m keen for Cornish businesses to meet us and see that.”

Mercedes-Benz of Truro is looking forward to showcasing an exciting line-up of models including the new C-Class, boasting a 9G-TRONIC gearbox – the world’s first nine-speed automatic transmission.

At the show will be the newly-appointed Mercedes-Benz local business development manager, Thomas Hett.

The company’s Jade Thorne said: “Thomas is looking forward to developing both new and existing business opportunities between local businesses and Mercedes-Benz of Truro. Please feel free to come and visit Thomas and the rest of the team at stand SR5. We’ll be there all day to showcase the cars and answer any questions you may have.”

Hawkins Motors will also be at the show, exhibiting Kia, Hyundai, Peugeot, Citroen, DS and Mitsubishi cars, along with commercial vehicles from Peugeot and Isuzu.

Hawkins’ group marketing manager, Jeremy Phillips, said: “Our focus will be on business users and so we will be promoting our highly competitive contract hire prices and other funding options for businesses.”

Snows Group, of Plymouth, also a first-time exhibitor, will be showcasing the new Volkswagen Amarok pick-up as well as a vehicle from Lexus.
