The first Nissan e-NV200 Combi arrives in Cornwall
The first Nissan e-NV200 Combi in Cornwall arrived at Bodmin based dealership West End Motors last week, as they received the 100% electric 5-seater minibus for the St Austell based electric pioneers, C&C Taxi’s. The private hire firm has continually expanding their fleet of electric vehicles and have now added the all new zero emission vehicle to their growing list of environmentally friendly vehicles. West End Motors Nissan was on hand to assist in the vehicle wrap applied to vehicle which will soon be used in and around the St Austell area.
Nissan are undoubtedly the leading brand in Electric Vehicle technology, producing the multiple award winning Zero Emissions LEAF, whose sales account for over two thirds of battery powered cars sold in the UK during 2014. So it wouldn’t be long before the Japanese brand with firm UK heritage produced an electric vehicle for the commercial market. Launching the e-NV200 van in early 2014, Nissan made headlines with many high profile businesses such as British Gas and FedEx introducing the new electric van to their fleet.
Now, Nissan have taken the next step in their EV journey and launched the e-NV200 Combi, built with the same technology which has powered the electric vehicle revolution in the past few years. Its outward appearance is that of a van, but step inside and you will be greeted by a three seat rear bench with a 60:40 split and moveable frame. The luggage area is extensive and would accommodate any family holiday or delivery.
The drive is similar to the LEAF, as is the cabin area which is well equipped with a host of features such as Nissan’s Around View Monitor offering a 360degree view of the space around the Combi for ease of parking. A confident drive allows for nippy acceleration which still surprises many EV first-timers alongside a smooth ride, all in complete silence of course.
Nissan publish a range of 106 miles on the e-NV200 Combi, which is realistically around 75-85 on the numerous hills of Cornwall. Charging is again similar to the LEAF, an overnight or 8 hour charge gets you to full capacity or you can visit an ever expanding list if Rapid Chargers for a 30 minute boost, achieving 80% of the battery capacity.
After the Government grant of £5000, the Nissan e-NV200 Combi starts from £22,859. Just like the LEAF, you can lease the batteries separately, bringing the price down to £17,855 plus a monthly battery rental of £73.20pm.
The only way to fully appreciate the e-NV200 van or Combi is to drive them, so get in touch with West End Motors Business Manager and EV specialist James Holder on 01208 261111 who can arrange an extended test drive. Or call into their Launceston Road showroom in Bodmin.
