Free copywriting workshops promise “Kung Fu Secrets”

Penryn-based marketing writers Lungfish have promised to reveal hidden secrets of the copywriter’s trade at a series of four free workshops from June to September.

Each of the one-hour workshops — at Tremough Innovation Centre on the first Thursday of the month — covers a different aspect of business writing, from creating “badass web content” to “nailing your press release”.

The first session, “Kung Fu Secrets of Business Copywriting” on Thursday 4^th June, promises to deliver “as many nuggets as we can fit in (before the ninjas arrive)”.

The workshops will be hosted by Lungfish’s principal consultant and lead copywriter, David McGuire, who was formerly creative director at Cornwall’s largest marketing and PR company and has over a decade’s experience writing for the likes of Oracle and Mitsubishi.

He said: “As much as we’d love everyone to hire professional writers for everything, we know that‘s just not practical. So we thought we’d run these workshops and help local business people communicate better in their day-to-day work.

“They’re short, focused sessions and we’re aiming to cram in as many practical tips as we can. I’m not promising to make anyone a Kung Fu master overnight, but hopefully they’ll be able to go away with a few more weapons in their arsenal, and a lot more confidence.”

2^nd July                       How to Write Badass Web Content

6^th August                  Nail Your Press Release the Lungfish Way

3^rd September            A Smash-and-Grab Guide to Voice and Tone

Each session starts at 5.15pm, and lasts for an hour. Tickets for are free, but places are limited, so should be booked in advance on Eventbrite.
