The Hub Portreath Rides High with Help to Employ
The Hub Portreath is a brand new bike rental, cafe and shop situated only 40 feet from the beach in Portreath and at the end of the Bissoe cycle trail. Founder and Owner of the business Tim Clarke has recently employed his first two members of staff, Nicky and Fergus, through the Breakthrough start-up programme.
Tim, having worked in recruitment and HR for much of his life before setting up his own business, was at first reticent about needing additional support in recruitment. However, he soon realised that it proved a valuable sounding-board and a great place for his new staff members to go if they needed encouragement.
Advertised through the Unlocking Potential Jobs website, the Breakthrough recruitment team helped in creating job specifications as well as facilitating the interview process and being part of the panel. As well as this, as a new start-up business in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (in their first 12 months trading), The Hub Portreath will also receive up to £3000 subsidy for each of the salaries. They’ll also continue to benefit from an external pair of eyes with Debbie Horner as their Business Development Manager, as the business grows over the next year.
