Marine Funding for Up-Skilling
Cornish marine businesses are set to benefit from funded short courses during this autumn and winter. Cornwall Marine Network (CMN), the business support agency for the County’s marine industry, is organising the courses financed through the Learning Partnership for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
CMN is calling for marine businesses to come forward who would like to benefit from this opportunity to upgrade their skills. Kate Reed, General Manager of Training at CMN said, “This is a great chance for the Cornish marine sector to participate in courses that can really support their skills development – minimum time out of the office with maximum learning on subjects that can make a big difference to their growth prospects and profitability.”
“CMN marine members will receive their training fully funded, whilst non-members of the Network can benefit from heavily subsidised rates or subscribe to the Network. We’d welcome any marine business who isn’t a member yet to join in and invite them to contact us to find out more about the courses and the other ways in which we can support their activities.”
The Marine Network has organised a series of courses covering subjects including e-marketing, sales, management and I.T. Kate Reed added, “Additionally, marine businesses can request specific training and CMN will look to fulfil those needs.”
The investment forms part of a gap funding initiative from the Learning Partnership for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly whilst the County waits for new skills related funds through the European financed Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Growth Programme.
