Polo on the Beach to be staged every two years

The organisers of the iconic Polo on the Beach at Watergate Bay have announced that the 2016 event scheduled for 9th-11th September 2016 will not be taking place.

This will allow the organising team to focus on delivering a truly spectacular tenth event in 2017, with the event staged every two years on a permanent basis.

Over the past nine years, Polo on the Beach has grown into one of Cornwall’s landmark free events, with thousands of visitors from within and outside the county.

“What started out as a fun evening event has now developed into a three-day weekend of free family entertainment,” explains Will Ashworth, Managing Director of Watergate Bay Hotel.  “Because of the huge logistical operation that is required to pull off such an incredible event, and with the hotel continuing to go from strength to strength with more exciting plans in the pipeline, we have decided to stage Polo on the Beach every two years from 2017.”

“It would not be possible to run Polo, as a free to attend, not-for-profit event without the crucial support of our partners and we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has worked with us over the last nine years, whilst also asking anyone who is interested in working with us on this special event for 2017 and beyond to please get in touch.”

Polo on the Beach 2017 will take place at Watergate Bay over the weekend of 19th- 21st May 2017.
