Robinson Reed Layton Raise over £4,000 for Charity
Robinson Reed Layton, the Cornish firm of Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Advisers, have helped to raise £2,020 for local charity The Sunrise Appeal, and a further £2,020 for Meningitis Now, through a charity golf day at Killiow Golf Club.
The event, which was jointly hosted with Jacksons Wealth Management and Seven Investment Management, saw teams of four competing for glory on the club’s fairways, in perfect golfing conditions.
The programme included a charity auction which raised over £1,200, which combined with entry fees and other donations on the day, saw a total of £4,040 raised for the two charities.
The Sunrise Appeal supports the Clinical Oncology Department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, by raising funds for vital equipment for the treatment of cancer at the hospital’s Sunrise Centre.
Simon Reed, partner at Robinson Reed Layton, and a keen golfer himself, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to make this donation to a wonderful charity, which provides such excellent support to the work done in treating cancer at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
“I’d like to thank everyone who helped to make the event a success, including all who generously donated towards the two chosen charities, as well as Killiow Golf Club, who did an excellent job in providing their facilities.”
Roger Weeks, Director of Jacksons Wealth Management, who also played on the day, said: “An event such as this is a great way for us and our working partners to raise much needed funds for these charities. We have a local connection with Meningitis Now through Ailsa and David Sugrue, who very sadly lost their son Teygan to the disease in 2014, and who are not only well known here in West Cornwall, but also to one of my co-directors, Chas Cox, personally.
“The Meningitis Now Trust was set up in the 1980s and continues to strive for a vaccine to cure this disease, raise funds via its campaigns and support the many sufferers and their families. It was an honour to be able to provide them with a cheque for £2,020.”
