Cornwall’s newest dedicated conference and training venue

Christmas came early for Cornwall’s leading business men and women on Friday as they came together in Truro to celebrate the opening of Cornwall’s largest dedicated conference and training venue.

The Leadership conference, organised by the Cornwall Business Club and Truro and Penwith College, took place at the city centre’s Haven House Conference and Training Centre, which officially opened its doors after a recent refit.

With eleven conference rooms, two IT suites, a conference suite and café on site, Haven House is now the largest single-centre conference and training venue in Cornwall.

Tamsyn Harris, Head of Truro and Penwith Business, said: “Feedback today about the new Haven House conference and training centre has been fantastic and we are keen to welcome more local businesses and organisations into the Centre and hope it can be of value for a wide range of activities including conferences, meetings, training and interviewing”.

The Christmas-themed launch event saw business people from across the county come together to share a mince pie and to hear about the latest training opportunities for Cornish businesses to grow and develop their workforce in particular. This included leadership lessons from ‘Santa’ and a taster seminar led by Truro and Penwith College’s industry leading lecturers.

Sally Phillips from Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant spoke about how Truro and Penwith College had designed and delivered a bespoke management programme for her business.

“We wanted to make the learning that we offer our employees bespoke to us as an industry but also us as an organisation because we are passionate about our business and the family values that are at the core of it. That’s why we chose Truro and Penwith College to help us pull our bespoke development program together,” she said.

All attendee’s received a present from Truro and Penwith College’s business team in the form of a chance to attend a New Year Business Clinic. Places on these clinics are also being offered at a special New Year price of £25 per session to anyone who did not get a chance to attend the conference.
