Cornwall’s Best Pasty comes to Penzance

The Cornish Oven are this week celebrating the opening of their 5th shop in Penzance as the pasty business continues to grow.

The bakery, which has 7 customer delivery vans and shops in Illogan, Pool, Helston and Camborne is opening the doors of its new shop on Wednesday 29th March in Long Rock Business Park, Jelbert Way, Penzance.

To celebrate their opening and to meet the locals, the team will be offering customers the chance to buy a standard size pasty for £1 on Friday 31st March and Saturday 1st April 2017*.

The Cornish Oven beat off competition last year from more than 60 pasty makers when readers of the Cornishman, West Briton and Cornish Guardian voted for their favourite pasty and handed the title of Cornwall’s Best Pasty to The Cornish Oven.

The Cornish Oven was launched in 1999 with their first shop in Illogan and over the last 18 years, owner Giles William has built a thriving business which now employs over 40 staff – who he credits for achieving the success they have today. “Opening my next shop in Penzance means a lot to me, as I grew up and went to school in the area” Giles says “I’m so pleased with the shops location, as I believe it’s going to offer convenience for locals and workers, especially with the free parking right outside. The Cornish Oven is about offering customers quality pasties and snacks and I’m really pleased the people in Penzance will now be able to easily enjoy them”.

The Cornish Oven team normally hand make over 2000 pasties each day using quality ingredients provided by local suppliers. However with their £1 a pasty event only being days away, the preparation team will be crimping more than usual, as they know how popular these events are and how much communities love a fresh pasty.
